Export to SCORM
What is SCORM?
"SCORM - which stands for Shareable Content Object Reference Model - is a set of technical standards for eLearning software products. SCORM tells programmers how to write their code so that it can “play well” with other eLearning software. It is the de-facto industry standard for eLearning interoperability. Specifically, SCORM governs how online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) communicate with each other." (scorm.com)
What can I do with a SCORM export?
Authoring-only. The SCORM export option is feasible if you are using the platform to author, and another platform to distribute.
Analytical data will be lost. When stories are exported from the platform and installed elsewhere, much of the analytical data that is logged by the platform will be lost as it is no longer being recorded on the platform. An API integration may remedy the data loss to an extent, but is subject to SCORM limitations.
SCORM Export Support
The platform validates and supports SCORM standards as per scorm.com and SCORM Cloud. The exported package produced by the platform should be tested on SCORM Cloud prior to implementation.
Contact your support team If exported packages do not appear to work on your chosen Learning Management System (LMS) or SCORM-compatible platform, please retest on SCORM Cloud. If it works on SCORM Cloud, you need to contact your LMS vendor for support.
How to export for SCORM
Access Authoring. Open a Learning Story in Authoring.
Open Tools. From the top menu, select Tools, then select Export to SCORM from the dropdown.
Ensure that all requirements have been met. The build size, template and assets are checked.
Select SCORM version. Choose SCORM 2004 or SCORM 1.2.
Select Export. The export file will be downloaded as a .zip folder.
Test & Install. Test the package on SCORM Cloud, then import your SCORM package into the desired platform
Exported stories contain technologies that are licensed under the platform Terms & Conditions. Please also refer to our SCORM export terms.
SCORM Export Terms
SCORM packages come with a license and related terms of use. Please refer to the platform Terms & Conditions which you agree to when using the platform.
SCORM packages are limited in their analytic ability due to the nature of SCORM. The exported story can therefore only offer a very basic version of analytics, in comparison to the in-depth insights provided by our platform.
Reflective and survey page results can not be tracked on SCORM.
Assignment uploads are not possible on SCORM.
You may require LMS support to import to your chosen LMS. The platform allows for the export of SCORM packages but does not support external LMS systems.
Export packages do not come with a warranty and it is not guaranteed that exports will work. The platform will not be held liable for any errors when exports are used outside of the platform, even in the event that an export does not work on SCORM Cloud.
SCORM packages only work on evergreen browsers, including IE 11 and above. Older browsers are not supported.
